This interactive discussion will be moderated by
Erica R. Wexler, in a conversation with
Ryan P. Brown from Rice University’s Doerr Institute. We will continue the thought-provoking conversation we began during the Bonfire,
"From Research to Holistic Impact: Making Change Personal.”
Inspired by the measurable impact resulting from Doerr’s coach training program, we will explore groundbreaking research questions and discuss the application of data-based insights to the future of coach education.
Dr. Ryan P. Brown is the Managing Director for Measurement at the Doerr Institute for New Leaders at Rice University. He regularly consults with organizations on ways to measure their impact on people and achieve transformational goals, in industries ranging from publishing to banking to education. Prior to the Doerr Institute, Ryan was the L. J. Semrod Presidential Professor of Psychology at The University of Oklahoma, where he taught and helped establish the Institute for the Study of Human Flourishing. He has published more than 50 scientific articles on human thought and behavior over the last 25 years and is the author of Honor Bound: How a Cultural Ideal Has Shaped the American Psyche (Oxford University Press, 2016) and the co-author of Leadership Reckoning: Can Higher Education Develop the Leaders We Need? (Monocle Press, 2021).
Ryan graduated cum laude from Rice University and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He taught briefly at Amherst College before joining the faculty of The University of Oklahoma in 2000. Ryan joined the Doerr Institute at Rice University in 2017.
Erica R. Wexler, MSOD is the President of Erica Wexler Transforms LLC and creator of the Transformational Guidance™ Training & Coaching Program. She is a pragmatically optimistic change facilitator who takes a collaborative systems and design thinking approach to project management, training and coaching. Erica specializes in bringing stakeholders together to leverage their strengths, navigate obstacles, and work collaboratively to facilitate positive and necessary change toward a shared vision. Erica draws upon 25+ years of experience leading innovative, equitable change initiatives within government, higher education, human services, technology, construction, manufacturing and other private, nonprofit and educational sectors.
Erica earned her Master’s in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and holds dual certifications from the University of Pennsylvania in Organizational Leadership and Change Management. Her publications on facilitating sustainable change through effective communication strategies have been downloaded from the University of Pennsylvania’s ScholarlyCommons by more than 30,000 practitioners and university-level educators internationally. She is an avid dancer, a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming practitioner, and an Accredited LIFO® Licensee Trainer & Executive Coach. Erica is currently working toward an additional coaching certification in applied neuroscience through the Key Change Institute (KCI).
