Workshop: Understanding transformational learning in coaching engagements
About the presenter
Dr. Robert Barner is an Associate Professor of Clinical Services with the Graduate Program in Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management, within Southern Methodist University (SMU). Over the past twelve years he has trained over 400 individuals in the three-course Executive Coaching Certificate Program that he directs for his graduate school. Prior to working at SMU, Dr. Barner spent over thirty years as a senior talent management executive for such companies as United Technologies, Accredo Health, and Choice Hotels, with responsibilities for high-potential coaching, executive coaching, and succession planning. Dr. Barner is the author of eight books that have been translated into several languages, and has been published in such journals as the OD Practitioner, Journal for Organizational Change Management, the Journal of Management Development, and the Journal of Career Development. The following presentation is based on his most recent book, co-authored by Dr. Ken Ideus, Working Deeply: Transforming lives through transformational coaching (Emerald Group Publishing, 2017).
